My professional background is in the area of advertising. After receiving my Ph.D. from Michigan State University with a specialization in media marketing and economics, I have been teaching and conducting research at higher ed institutions. My more recent notable experience includes a six-year tenure as the Associate Dean for Research in the College of Journalism and Communications at the University of Florida, PI and Executive Director for an institute on journalism and media funded by the U.S. State Department, PI for a four-year industry-funded research project studying the changing media habits of young adults, and director/PI for various research projects with industry partners such as Google and Twitter. Currently, I am the Director of Media Consumer Research in the College of Journalism and Communications at UF.
